eh. the job hunting situation is looking bleak. so i am trying to get more offers to commission a baking frenzy. there is a possible batch to be baked in july.
creating the costings is a B@#$! and i’ve even had my mom take a look at my expense sheet and computations because im lousy at math and she is brilliant. also she’s done this before (for xmas orders and whenever she needed to make ends meet for me and my sisters growing up). did you know that flour per cup and sugar per cup do not weigh the same ? to think i researched everything, incl wattage of appliances used during baking, the cars MPG, current gas prices…apparently I did not think of everything.
so, i’ll start over, hoping this time its right.
at least i have my mom to guide me. :D thank God

What else? I finally got the What’s New, Cupcake? in the mail yesterday! Hurray! it is now alongside its partner book, Hello, Cupcake!

I don’t actually have complete tools. I feel like I still need:
- pastry bags and decorating tips
- rolling pin
- some sort of smooth surface pad I can spread on a table and knead fondant on
- fondant gum/paste?
All of these aren’t super needed (i heard buttercream can sub for the gum), and I really do not wish to clutter up our kitchen cupboards anymore than it is. Two weeks ago, I was able to purchase a bag of white fondant , some black food coloring gel for the clapboards i plan to make for a filmmaker friends wrap party. there is also this massive yellow cupcake courier just sitting around in my kitchen.
There is also a cousins graduation in 2 weeks (graduation hats?). tomorrow is a neighbor’s birthday. (im thinking the mums on Whats New Cupcake?)
i also bought a doggie cookie cutter and a really good cookie sheet. this baking thing is costing a lot, but its also a lot of fun. now, to make it taste good AND make sure it’s cost-effective, it’s gonna need a lot of work! wish me luck!
